The Beginning

Prior to our wedding in September 2010, my husband diligently searched for the perfect get-away vehicle. We got married in a small mountain community with narrow roads and steep hills, so something small and compact was ideal. We didn't have much money, so it took awhile to find something just right. Three days before our wedding, my husband bought a 1973 Beetle, aka The Bee.

After the wedding, we began the (slow) process of fixing and restoring. Currently, The Bee is away from home getting engine and welding work done.

On December 21, 2011 my husband made a deal for a 1973 Campmobile Bus, aka Greta. For the past 15+ years, she's been sitting in a parking lot, unused. In fact, Greta was right across the street from the place my husband and I met for the first time! Can't beat sentimental value. She needs a lot of cleaning up and TLC (new curtains, upholstery, exterior paint, etc), but she's definitely usable and drive-able while we work on the restoration. We were happy to realize the pop-top canvas is still in working condition. Now all we need is some warmer weather so we can take her camping.

We have several project planned for both The Bee and Greta. Stay tuned!
