Hidden "Treasures"

Restoring a 39-year-old vehicle is bound to come with some surprises. Thankfully, as far as Greta is concerned, most of her surprises have been good ones!

We pulled out the flooring and cabinets this weekend. For the past 15-20 years, Greta was virtually unused by her previous owner(s).  As we started pulling the cabinets out, we found some interesting items that piece together the story of her past:
  • Several "dream catchers"
  • A Mickey Mouse sweat shirt
  •  A few tie die clothing items
  • $12 cash (circa 1977)
  • A Kennedy half dollar
  • ATom Petty cassette tape
  • A baby spoon
  • A cloth diaper pin
  • A Grow Wild Mushrooms mail order advertisement

Once the cabinets, table, and jump seat were taken out, it was time to get a closer look at the flooring...

My husband was a little worried about the condition of the original floor since it had started to "buckle" in some areas:
You can kind of see the buckling in the back by the outlet

He was pleasantly surprised with what he found underneath:
The wood needs a little sanding, but it's flat and straight!

Needs a good scrubbing before the new floor goes in!

She looks pretty empty with all the cabinets out!

The flooring and curtains are officially ordered, we picked out (and purchased) the interior paint. The flooring should arrive within a week or so, which gives us time to finish cleaning up.
