Cruel Summer

Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning
I sit around
Trying to smile...(source)

Well, it certainly has been hot out there (and it's not officially summer yet)! It's hard not to smile around Greta, though! The temperature reached as high as 95 degrees yesterday (and almost as hot today), but that hasn't stopped us from continuing to get Greta spruced up for her first trip.

We fixed a few more spots with primer:

All done!

Driver's side...

Awesome!

 A few other spots...

She still needs paint/body work, but at least the major spots are done and won't get worse. We probably won't do paint/body until next summer (at the earliest!)
Looking good, Greta!
After the primer, it was time to start getting ready for our road trip! We got our rear view mirror dangly-thing in the mail the other day:
We love the owl decor!
The refrigerator was in need of a good cleaning. We also bought new tubes for the sink/drain. The water tank is full and ready to go!
The blue paint is courtesy of the previous owners. I wasn't able to get it off.

After borrowing a cooler from my parents, we decided to invest in an extreme cooler. It's designed to keep the ice frozen for up to 5 days. We'll see how well it turns out, but it sure would be nice not to have to buy ice all the time! The cooler fits perfectly.

I can't believe how much storage space there is! I guess I never really thought about it until I started packing everything away, but these vans really do hold a lot of stuff! We still have ample room left in all the cabinets and compartments.

All we have left to load are the duffel bags and food!

Even our little mascot, Hoot, is ready to hit the road!
Let's Go!!

Of course, nothing can ever go completely according to plan...
Today the battery light came on in my car, and of course I have a bunch of errands to run tomorrow to finish getting ready to leave town. The alternator was replaced in my car less than a year ago, but it seems to be having issues again. It will be a quick fix (thanks to a handy husband) but it's just one more thing we have to make time for.

It's always something, right? We are ready to hit the open road and leave everything behind! Thursday morning can't come fast enough!
